IMPERA (Latin for "rule") is Ghost's latest studio album, released on March 11, 2022. It is supported by the Imperatour which started in April 2022.
Background[]
Frontman Tobias Forge has stated that the idea for the album was conceived many years ago, as far back as 2013, when he obtained a book called The Rule Of Empires: Those Who Built Them, Those Who Endured Them, And Why They Always Fall by Timothy Parsons which inspired him to create an album about "...the rise and ultimately the unescapable fails and falls of empires." It will perhaps be the most topical Ghost album to date, as he says that it "...wasn't really hard to be inspired by the last couple of years."[1] He has also stated that he intends it to be a "darker, heavier record".[2]
