Hunter’s Moon is a song by Swedish heavy metal band Ghost. It was released for the movie “Halloween Kills”, the latest installment in the Halloween horror movie trilogy. The song also features as the fifth track on the album, IMPERA.
Background and Release[]
According to Tobias Forge, Ryan Turek, a producer of the film Halloween Kills, asked him if he was interested in writing a song for the film. Forge said that he already had a few songs that might work, and specifically one song that could work very well within the concepts of the film.
To quote lead singer Tobias Forge, "The actual recording will last around six weeks and then there's two to three weeks of mixing and mastering, so sometime in March the record should be finished, but it won't be released until after the summer. As it looks now, knock on wood, we will then go on tour. We won't release an album until we know that we are actually going on tour. The album release will coincide with the start of a tour. Of course, we could announce an album release date and then, for some reason, it might not be possible to tour, but that's a whole other matter."
Two versions of the song were produced; the single, which can be heard on the 7" vinyl release and the album Impera, and the film version, which can be heard in the Halloween Kills movie as well as the limited edition orange 7" single vinyl.
Hunter's Moon was released as a single in vinyl format on January 21, 2022.
Music Video[]
The music video takes on the aesthetic of a horror movie. The video also has an appearance from Papa Emeritus IV and Michael Myers.
